We have all heard this over a hundred times by now. "Sit Up Straight!"..... and it's for a good reason.

This problem that many 9 to 5 desk job workers have is called Upper Cross Syndrome. This issue is caused by slouching over a prolonged period of time. UCS (Upper Cross Syndrome/Rounded Shoulders) has many factors to it. One of the issues is tightness of the upper traps and levator scapula. As we desend on the photo provided above, another postural issue is inhibited rhomboids and serratus anterior. As we move to the right of the display, tight pecs as well as neck flexors are a factor as well. This will leads to limit shoulder mobility, discomfort and neck pain.

Due to the way the human body is wired, we have protagonist and antagonist set up. In lamen terms, a push pull balance. For example, back muscles are opposite of the chest. Thinking of that example, the photograph provided above should become more vivid, hence the reason why we need to "Sit Up Straight." This upper cross is not permenant and cause be improved over time.

Basic chest stretching exericse will help alleviate tightness in chest. Over time this will cause your posture to improve. It will also reduce the risk of pec tears and shoulder discomfort. So please listen to the legendary word of advice. "Sit Up Straight" and stick your chest out, especially for you ladies. Back pain ain't cool and seeing a beautiful woman walk around slouch gives off a lazy impression. When you conduct yourself with the correct posture, it gives off a confident vibe and more looks will come your way. So again, stand up striaght, stick your chest out and show off your confidents. This is my word of advice not only for the average 9 to 5 employee, but for everyone out there. You life will be a lot easier.
Yours Truly,
Alex Viruet
